New Upcoming Movies 2012
This Week In Theaters - Big Miracle, Chronicle, and The Woman in Black open in wide release this weekend. Because of the Super Bowl, the box office is typically slow, especially on Sunday. The drop off in business from Saturday to Sunday can be as high as 75% versus a more typical 30-45% drop. Therefore, historically, studios opened less promising movies. However, this time, there appears to be a decent selection. The two top contenders are The Woman In Black and Chronicle, which both look to gross around $15 million based on HSX trading. Big Miracle, looks to open in the mid-single digits.
Last weekend, The Grey topped box office charts with just nearly $20 million, followed by Underworld: Awakening in second place. One for the Money finished in third with $11.5 million and Man on a Ledge placed fifth with $8 million. Oscar nominees saw a spike in attendance with The Descendants gaining 170% versus its previous weekend, The Artist climbed 40% and Hugo spiked close to 170%.... Read More V
